Paid events are danced by our professional dance team.

MUST REGISTER for ALL dance lessons and workshops.Please complete Registration Form on this page and make initial or full payment (see lesson details below).

**We follow the State of NY and Tompkins County Health Department COVID policies with regards to mask wearing at indoor lessons, workshops and events. At this time, masks are not required but optional. Out of respect and consideration for self and others please do not come to in person lesson/workshop/performance if have any symptoms of illness or known direct contact with an ill person. Thank you.              

Dancer & Studio Protocol:

* Always practice aloha (care and kindness) to others.  Be respectful to instructors, other dancers, visitors, 'ohana (family) and the community. Have Fun! 

*Be on time - we strive to start and end lessons on time. Unless informed the instructor prior to class, please do not enter class more than15 minutes after the start of a lesson or workshop. Thanks! 

*What to bring? Aloha and a smile...Bring a water bottle and wear comfortable, breathable clothing that is easy to move in. A Pa'u (hula skirt) or pareo (wrap, sarong) is not required for beginner lessons or workshops but encouraged. 

*Remember to silence or don't bring a cell phone.

*Unless requiring more foot support, please dance bare footed. Yoga style socks with grips on the bottom are acceptable to wear to keep feet warm. Unless there is a medical or cultural reason, please do not wear socks or tights as they increase risk of slipping and falling. Thank you. 

*Leave street shoes outside the studio in the hallway to keep the floors as clean and dry as possible. 

*Parents/guardians and guests of haumana (student), unless received prior permission from instructor, please wait outside the studio during lesson and/or workshop time. There are seats to relax at the front entrance or in the hall. You may peek though the studio door window to check in on a haumana (student) though as a courtesy and to not disrupt dancers and instructors please do so briefly and discreetly. No pictures or videos please. Please be aware that there also may be other groups in the building so please remember to keep volumes low in the waiting areas.

*No make ups or refunds for missed lessons, workshops, performance or costumes. Prorating lessons is not offered at this time. 

*Make up lessons may be offered due to instructor emergency, illness or inclement weather but are not always possible due to room availability. At a later date an in-person or class via Zoom will be offered as a make-up class. This may be at a different time and day then usual class. 

Intermediate Level Haumana (student):

What to bring? Aloha and a smile...pa'u (hula skirt) or pareo (wrap, sarog), dance implements  (pu'ili, uli uli, ipu, poi balls, etc.), printed or access to online learning materials that are currently being taught, such as lyrics to a mele (song) or oli (chant) that an instructor or leader has provided.

Beginner HULA Lessons 

(adults - 13 and up)

No experience necessary 

Learn basic beginner hula steps, background of hula, introductory to some hula implements and learn 1-2 hulas per session.A great
workout while having fun and learning. 
DayWednesdays 
Time: 6:30-7:30p  

Location: Just Be Cause Center  - 1013 W. State Street  Ithaca, NY 

Cost: $100/5 week session

50% due upon registration and remaining balance due at first lesson.

INTERMEDIATE HULA Lessons 

(adults - 13 and up)

*must have approval of instructor to join*

Intermediate lessons operate from January-June (May for those not performing). Focus on building upon basic dance skills learned in beginner classes. We spend time on hula drills, learning and practicing new (and previous) dances, implement knowledge and practice, Hawaiian & Polynesian culture, 'olelo (language), oli (chant), mele (song), costuming and crafting. Public performance is encouraged though optional. DISCOUNT FOR PERFORMERS. At intermediate level, dancers are expected to attend most classes/sessions, especially if desiring to perform. 
Days: Wednesdays  

(5 week sessions - see dates above)

Time: 7:30-8:30/9pm (extra half hour 8:30-9p for performers leading up to events)

Location: Just Be Cause Center   Ithaca, NY 

COST: $90/5 week session - ($10 discount for dancers that perform - $80/session)

Anticipate additional costs - pa'u (hula skirt), dance implements and costume costs if/when necessary to purchase. Option to perform at local events which include additional dance Performance Team practices and costs. If have permission to perform, performers must be available and committed to dance at Ithaca Festival, Ithaca PorchFest and Trumansburg PorchFest.

Keiki (Child) Hula Workshops

ages 7 -12 - other ages with instructor permission

No experience necessary.  Have fun and make friends while learning basic dance steps, a hula and about culture. 

Day: Date to be determine - Check back and reach out with interest 

Time: 6:30p-7p

Location: Just Be Cause Center

Ithaca, NY or via Zoom 

Cost: $20/child (ages 7-12)

*Guardian must remain on site during workshop - there is a waiting area.

(must have 4 dancers minimum to hold workshop - refunds will be given for canceled workshop)
